FAQ

Q: If I need parts for my Mercury Marine® motor, will the Serial number be required?

A: While the Serial number is very helpful for finding specific parts, we are often able to use general motor information (HP and approximate year) to get close. We are, however, hesitant to promise that we have the exact parts when we do not have a Serial number on a Mercury Marine® motor. The more information, the better, to ensure that we are providing our customer the best service!

Q: Where is the serial number located on my Mercury Marine® motor?

A: There should be a small (1"x1") plate on the Starboard (Right/Driver) side of the motor, near the motor mount. With older motors, it is sometimes worn off or scratched. In this case, the number can also be found stamped on the engine block. Please call or text, Attn: Parts, to (701) 223-9003 with any questions.

Q: What if I don't have my serial number off my motor?

A: If you don't have your serial number knowing the horse power and approximate year of your motor will help us get close.

FAQ

Q: If I need parts for my Yamaha motor, will the Serial number be required?

A: While the Serial number is very helpful for finding specific Yamaha parts, the Model number is a close second. An example of a Model number would be, if your motor is a Four-Stroke 150, F150TLRD. There are always letters after the HP designation for the motor. Sometimes 2, sometimes as many as 4. This, paired with a close idea of a model year on the motor, will often get us right into your motor as well as the Serial number. Without at least one of these pieces of information, we have some difficulty assuring that we are looking in the exact motor, and thereby finding your exact part. We will, of course, always do our best to help with whatever information is available!

Q: Where is the serial number located on my Yamaha motor?

A: There is an information tag on the Port (Left/Nondriver) side of the motor, generally on the motor mount or bottom cowl. With older motors, this can sometimes be damaged and unreadable. Whatever you can provide will be helpful! Please call or text, Attn: Parts, to (701) 223-9003 with any questions.

Q: What if I don't have my serial number off my motor?

A: If you don't have your serial number we can also find parts using the model number, knowing the horse power and approximate year of your motor will help us get close.

FAQ

Q: If I need parts for my Volvo motor or drive, do I need my Serial number?

A: Volvo Penta makes it very difficult to assure correct parts lookups without accurate Serial numbers. There are 3 different Serial numbers: Engine, Transom, and Drive. Depending on what part we are looking for, it will be helpful to have all 3.

Q: Where can I find my 3 Serial numbers?

A: Generally, by lifting the engine cover, you can find a plate on top of the valve cover containing all 3. This should also include the size and model of engine (4.3GL, etc) and type of drive (SX-L, etc). The drive and transom numbers are often also on the Port (Left/Nondriver) side of the outdrive. Any and all of this information is helpful when determining the engine or drive that will take us to your parts. As always, the more information, the better to serve you best!

Q: What if I don't have my serial number off my motor?

A: We will always do our best to help, but please understand that we can do better with the most information available.

FAQ

Q: If I need parts for my MerCruiser® engine or drive, will I need my Serial number?

A: It is very helpful to have Serial numbers for MerCruiser® engines and drives. If we have engine size and approximate year, we can often be fairly confident of our parts selections, but things like different carburetors, etc that may have been used make for a bit of uncertainty, so whenever possible a Serial number is preferable. There should also be a model designator sticker to tell you which type of drive is used (Alpha, Bravo, etc). All of this information will help us to be more certain of helping our customers to the best of our abilities!

Q: Where do I find the Serial number for my MerCruiser® motor?

A: Serial numbers for Mercruiser®s can, unfortunately, be found in a number of places under the engine cover. Commonly, the valve cover or the air cleaner, but it often takes a bit of looking. There should be a small plate similar to that on a Mercury Marine® outboard, and it should include the size and model of engine, along with the model of outdrive. Once again, the more information, the better!

Q: What if I don't have my serial number off my motor?

A: It is always preferable to have a Serial Number for accuracy in finding MerCruiser® parts. In the event that it is not available, being in possession of the most information possible is helpful. If we have the size of the engine and an approximate year, and the type of drive (Alpha, Bravo, etc.), we can often be fairly confident that we are on the right track on most common parts.
